Lancashire Engagement Photos – Hannah and Ben

lancashire engagement photos

I’ll take any excuse to get on the road, go for a drive and visit new places. Hannah and Ben provided a good one for their Lancashire Engagement Photos when they invited me to join them in Rivington on a misty and mellow winter’s day.

After spending a bit of time near the reservoir – this landlocked New Zealander is magnetically drawn to large bodies of water! – we meandered our way up the hill, and in one of those unplanned, ‘I can’t believe our luck’ kind of moments, found ourselves with an amazing view stretched out before us, taking in the last light of the day and feeling like we were the only ones around for miles…

Super grateful to Hannah and Ben for showing me a part of their world and braving the piercing wind on the hillside for some of my fav photos from our time together. Also, don’t you think they’re great kissers? Looking forward to their wedding day this May!

Cotswold Engagement Photos – Beccy and Ali

cotswold engagement photos

Remember all that crazy hot, super fine weather we had here in the UK back at the start of July? Well I was lucky enough to get out amongst it with my camera for Beccy and Ali’s Cotswold Engagement Photos during one of my favourite times of the day – the late arvo!

We’d made the decision to postpone the shoot for a few weeks thanks to our fickle friend British weather who was up to the same old grey and rainy tricks again, but boy was it the right move! In good company, with the sun going down over a big ol’ cool looking tower, and the wind blowing in all the right ways – pretty much perfect.

Orlando Country Club Wedding, New Zealand – Jules and Stu

manawatu wedding photography

March saw us back in New Zealand for Jules and Stu’s wedding in the mighty Manawatu. Jules(y) was part of our crew in Palmerston North back in the day. We love her like you only can with those who you’ve known for years. This wedding is close to our hearts.

When you’re in and out of each other’s homes and lives, you know exactly what’s up in their world… what they think of the latest movie, what they ate for dinner last night (because you were with them!) and the moment they fancy someone. When you’re on the other side of the world you tend to catch up on the highlights. So it was with Stu… somewhere along the way we heard about the guy, who she’d met through work. Our first glimpse of him was a peek through the curtains of Jules home as he rolled up in his Prado for a fleeting visit. We’d have to wait a whole year to meet him for the first time, on our next trip back to NZ. That was at Rich and Sarah’s wedding weekend in Whangamata where we spent the day after hanging out together drinking coffee & cider, mucking around on the beach, and watching a film at the town’s tiny old school cinema. It was easy, like we’d known him for years.

You want so badly for your friends to find that someone who brings out all the beauty and awesomeness you see in them. During Stu’s wedding speech he called everyone in the room “good buggers” — which in New Zealand is actually an endearing term indicating fondness! – and thanked them all for the part they’d played in shaping both him and Jules. Community minded, down to earth, kind and honest – the dude is gold. We’re so happy to see these two married!

Enough already. Here’s Jules and Stu on their wedding day, rustic sensibilities and all, married in their backyard, surrounded by people they love… looking glorious.

Many of the peeps you see in these photos are friends of old, “good buggers” as Stu put it, our nearest and dearest. Caught up in all the photography biz, it somehow slipped our minds until the wedding day that we’d actually see these familiar faces, get to hug them, catch up, dance like crazy and be together like it was back in the day. The best.

Shout outs to Ruth over at Harriet Wilde shoes for featuring this wedding on their blog and being totally friendly and helpful, and Mel at Envie who’s repping Palmerston North and doing a fine job as a makeup artist.

Manchester Farm Wedding – Sean and Helen

Sean_and_Helen-blog_0001

Back in March we shot Sean and Helen’s Manchester farm wedding. Helen was one of the first people we met when we moved to the UK and she’s had a special place in our heart ever since. We knew her before Sean came on the scene and so have had the privilege of hearing about this new guy, to seeing them engaged, and now as husband and wife! And flip, Helen’s chosen well. Sean’s thoughtful, super kind and generous and most importantly he makes Helen laugh… a lot. Yeah, bit in love with Sean over here.

These guys thought long and hard about the kind of day they wanted, and it didn’t disappoint. It was a true reflection of what was important to them – a day filled with colour, golden moments, big laughter, family, and scores of their friends all partying the night away under a HUGE marquee at Ryecroft Farm. The best.
