Oakwell Hall Wedding, West Yorkshire | Ian and Lois

Lois & Ian take the prize for most emotional wedding day during their Oakwell Hall Wedding. When I’m behind the camera, I can usually separate myself from the moments unfolding in front of me. But it was a difficult thing to do that day, and I shed tears down the aisle that would rival the groom’s! It might have been because I know a bit of their story, which is pretty sweet.

These guys met during a ceilidh at Oakwell Hall & Country Park – so it seemed fitting to hold their reception in the same place as this significant meeting! The moment when Ian asked Lois to dance came full circle as they took their first dance together as husband and wife.

The weather played nice most of the day, though we had some rain when the bridal portraits were scheduled. Good thing we could head into the hall with its beautiful windows. And during the evening, once the rain had cleared, the hog roast had been served, and the hall was being cleared to make way for dancing, we grabbed Lois & Ian, and in the final moments of daylight took some of our favourite photos of the day!

So Lois & Ian, thank you for the tears, the laughter, and the emotional embraces. It was an honour to capture your day.

Chris & Beth’s Wedding Photo Booth

We often run the Bonbon Booth (our take on the unboxed photo booth) during the wedding reception, and the one at Chris & Beth’s a few weeks ago was heaving.

This could have been due to its close proximity to the bar, or simply because their guests were crazy awesome. We couldn’t even stay behind the camera. We ended the booth with some polaroids for Chris and Beth to take home with them. Looking forward to sharing the photos from the rest of their day soon.

See a few of our favourites from the night below, and view the rest of the photos from the evening at our proofing site.

We have a website!

Welcome to our brand new website and blog! We are so excited. Getting this up and running has been on our to-do list for well over a year and we’ve finally got there. Mostly, we are looking forward to being able to tell the stories that we capture in a way that better represents our intentions when clicking and editing. So expect lots of content appearing on here over the next month!

We’re kicking off with some photos of US! These were taken last week while we were out on a family walk/location scout. Kim usually takes Finn for a walk in the evening, and despite the winter months ahead, we are making a commitment to take more photos of each other. It’s great practice, but also it helps to remind ourselves what it’s like to be in front of the camera – how we like to be photographed is more than likely how other people might like us to photograph them.

The more we learn and grow, the more passionate we are about photography.
