We’re struggling for words to describe this Derbyshire Village Wedding. Sarah and Brent. Flip. Here goes…
This day was a true testament to loyalty, and the power of love to overcome distance and circumstance. Sarah is a Derbyshire lass, Brent is from Kansas City. They met in Australia. Over the course of their relationship, land and sea has separated them for 32 of the 41 months they’ve been together. And while planning the wedding there were times when it looked like the wedding might not happen due to issues with Brent’s visa. But they did it. The look of triumph on their faces as they stepped outside the church says it all, and still makes me well up. YES. THEY DID IT!
Their journey is not over yet. Because of new immigration laws, even though they were allowed to marry, Brent still has to return to the States in the next few weeks, for an unknown amount of time. The qualification for his return is based on Sarah being able to earn a few more thousand pounds a year. It’s heartbreaking, but we know it’s going to have a good outcome. If you’re the type to pray, send one out for these guys while you’re scrolling through the photos or leave a comment for these guys – I’m sure they’d appreciate hearing from you.
We also absolutely loved the whole style of the day. Sarah wore her grandma’s dress (spot the photo of Sarah’s grandma on her wedding day), which was altered by the amazing Sheena Holland, who also created the amazing headpiece from extra fabric at the bottom of the dress. The crew at The Strand Hair & Beauty made Sarah look even more gorgeous. Brent’s suit was smoking, and we totally dig the leather braces that all the guys wore. Zing! And those florals by The Flower House in Hulland Ward were incredible!
