Eddie and Jen’s Lake Taupo Wedding in Kuratau, New Zealand was flat out amazing. This was not just a wedding day, but a wedding weekend! Friends and family travelled from across NZ and beyond, staying in nearby baches (kiwi holiday homes for all you non-NZers) to hang out, help out and enjoy being in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.
The most important thing you should know about these guys is that they are community builders. They exude so much warmth and welcome that you just want to be around them – they’re magnetic. Their wedding was as much a celebration of their friends and family as it was of their love. While planning the day they got to know and build relationships with people in the local community, some of whom came to the wedding (it was also how they randomly got to arrive by boat for the evening meal – a feat spontaneously organised 5 minutes prior). Food and drink was sourced from local suppliers and made by friends. And like that they just infused every aspect of the day with who they are. We loved how the next day, everyone meandered back to the marquee, soaked up the sun, swam in the river and ate the leftovers.
Check out the rings too. Their surname is Martin, so Jen designed a clever little logo featuring two House Martin birds for both wedding bands. Dang, we love good design! And her dress, and… well everything. Check it.
The next day…
